Awards for Excellence 2010 |
|
Best Global investment bank: Deutsche Bank | |
Also nominated: Goldman Sachs, HSBC and JPMorgan |
Deutsche Bank has long been renowned as a global leader in complex risk management and in flow businesses around fixed income, foreign exchange and credit. In the past year, it has also substantially upgraded its secondary market equities business and continued to build up in commodities trading.
The downturn in M&A volumes in Europe has served to highlight a remarkable aspect of the Deutsche story: the build-out of its M&A franchise, especially in the US. Origination has also been strong across debt markets and ECM.
So, even in a year when Deutsche Bank does not carry off too many of the individual product category global awards for excellence, it is shortlisted and in strong contention on almost all of them. It is this strong showing across so many different business areas that marks Deutsche Bank out as the investment bank of the year.
And what makes this performance truly remarkable is that it comes in a year when Deutsche has fundamentally transformed its core businesses, rethought the model, reduced risk, reduced assets and had high staff turnover.
