Brazil private banking debate: Private bankers try to harness Brazil’s new-found wealth

Joao Albino Winkelmann (JAW) has been the head of Bradesco Private Bank since 2004. He has 29 years’ banking experience. He was responsible for setting up Bradesco’s Grand Cayman operations in 1992 and is responsible for a staff of 215 with 12 private banking offices in 10 Brazilian states.
Gustavo Aranha (GA) heads the investment and services products department at Credit Suisse Hedging-Griffo, and is a director of the firm. He joined Hedging-Griffo in 2001 as an intern and became a partner of the company in December 2003. He graduated in business management in 2001 and earned a masters in business economics in 2005.
Renato Cohn (RC) is a managing partner and co-head of wealth management at Banco BTG Pactual. He previously worked at Banco Matrix as a trader of domestic interest rates for the proprietary desk, joined Pactual in 1999, became a partner in 2006 and was later head of products and services for wealth management.
Paulo Meirelles de Oliveira Santos (PMOS) joined Itaú Unibanco in 2002 and is now its private banking sales director, responsible for its commercial teams throughout Brazil. He started working in the financial market in 1983, in banks such as Chase Manhattan, Delta National Bank and Trust Company of New York, Banco Bozano Simonsen and Santander.
Rogerio Pessoa (RP) is a managing partner of BTG Pactual. He joined Pactual in 1998, as partner in charge of private banking. Between 2006 and 2009 he was head of markets and deputy head of wealth management at Banco UBS Pactual, and since 2009 has been co-head of wealth management.
Luiz Severiano Ribeiro (LSR) joined Itaú in 2002 and is now a commercial director at Itaú Private Bank, responsible for managing the ultra-high-net-worth team. His career in finance began in 1998, at Unibanco Private Bank, with subsequent experience at Banco Fator and Itaú Corretora.
