Stars of the future: Alessandro Farkuh, Bradesco BBI

Alessandro Farkuh is the head of M&A at Bradesco BBI, having joined the bank in November 2007. Before joining Bradesco BBI, Farkuh worked at Cicerone Capital, PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Finance and Exxel Fund.

Farkuh says Bradesco BBI’s approach to M&A is different to other investment banks. "We do transactions from less than R$50 million to R$50 billion. It’s a different way to position ourselves. We want to develop a long-term relationship and sometimes we need to be in some transactions that are not so glamorous but these are seed transactions."

Bradesco BBI has been operating since only 2007 but it has a long-term outlook and the 70-year history of the parent bank to fall back on. The team can point to important deals: in 2008 it advised Bovespa on its merger with BMF; in 2009 it advised Sadia on its R$24 billion deal with Perdigão; in 2010 it advised Fleury on its acquisition of Labs D’Or; and in 2011 it advised on the R$22 billion restructuring of Oi.
