Kuwait Finance House no longer has the market to itself in Kuwait; in particular, the rise of Boubyan Bank, backed by NBK, will be interesting to watch as we give this award in coming years. For the moment, though, KFH is the name to compete with in Kuwait: big, innovative, regionally powerful.
The breadth of KFH’s businesses, from personal and commercial banking to real estate, leasing, project finance, asset management and private banking, continues to set it apart. Business has not been easy in Kuwait – it has not been a great period to be exposed to real estate or the stock market – but a planned capital issue, part of a five-year plan for the bank, should bolster ratios and fund continuing expansion.
