Tunisian banking is largely dominated by state-owned banks. However, there is one private and Tunisian bank that claims on its website that it is "dedicated to the service of its clients and to the development of the national economy". Amen Bank claims that its three aims are to innovate, to serve and to make successful. It covers all of Tunisia and has both retail and corporate customers. Amen Bank has a long history, having been set up in 1880, when it was known as Crédit Foncier d’Algérie et de Tunisie. It changed its name in 1995, and now has 72 branches and more than 20 ATMs. Amen Bank’s dealing room, supplied with up-to-date equipment and expert personnel, is one of north Africa’s most modern. It carries out cash and term currency processing, along with other treasury transactions in matters of deposits. It offers a personalized service with regard to exchange risks and rates and as banking develops in the country, will surely grow.
