Dabdoub: always looking to the future, but recognized by Euromoney for his achievements so far |
The story of Ibrahim Dabdoub is the story of Arab banking – and most particularly it is the story of all that is best in Arab banking.
And in an age when bankers transfer from one institution to another more frequently than footballers change clubs it is particularly gratifying to give this award for outstanding achievement to a one-bank banker.
Dabdoub has been with National Bank of Kuwait for more years than anyone can remember. He has steered the institution through some of the momentous financial challenges in the region – and just as dramatically held it together through and after some of the dramatic political upheavals the world has seen in recent years.
A quarter century
Remarkably Dabdoub has been with NBK since the 1960s, and at its helm for more than a quarter of a century.
Under his watch, the bank has faced the sorts of challenges that would have severely damaged – and possibly even destroyed – less well managed institutions.
