Lloyds hires two in FX sales

Lloyds has appointed former Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML) salesperson Karen Solomon to its macro advisory group and is believed to have hired one other in institutional FX sales from Société Générale.

Solomon, who left BAML in March, covered UK institutional clients. She joined Lloyds earlier this week, reporting to Mike Walsh, head of the macro advisory group, a bank spokesperson has confirmed. Meanwhile, FX salesperson Tiziano Quarantotto has left Société Générale and is due to start at Lloyds at the end of June, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Lloyds declined to comment on Quarantotto’s hire.

In this year’s Euromoney FX Survey, Lloyds won the award for most improved with clients in the $100 billion-$250 billion-per-year category, moving from 38th to 26th.

An area where Lloyds saw the most improvement was with banks in western Europe, moving from 28th in 2011 to 19th in 2012.

In the overall rankings, Lloyds moved up four places, going from 38th in 2011 to 34th in this year’s survey.
