It seems the UK is home to the worst snitches when it comes to reporting financial crimes.
Research from Kroll, the MI5 of financial markets, says UK whistleblowers, or finks, if you will, are responsible for a quarter of all overseas tip-offs to the US SEC, placing them at the top of the table of rats.
Under a new scheme, the SEC is providing bounties for information that helps it fight the good fight against fraud. The regulator received 3,001 such leads in the past year: 324 from outside the US and a quarter of those from the British Isles.
Canada was home to the second-largest number of telltales, followed by informers from India and China. Dobbers from Australia also squealed loudly to the US authorities, taking fifth place in the ranking table.
Euromoney disapproves of fraud as much as the next guy, but nobody likes a grass.
