Oanda hires internally to replace managing director for Europe

Oanda, one of the leading retail FX brokers, has hired internally to replace Antony Broadbent, who left the company in September after spending three years as its managing director for Europe.

Paul Hayward has filled the role, after joining the company in 2008 as the managing director for its business in the Middle East, where he was based in Dubai.

In July, Hayward relocated to London, where he worked as Oanda Middle East Corporation’s head of sales for Europe.

Hayward is an FX market veteran, spending nearly 30 years in London and Dubai in the financial services industry, working for a number of companies including HSBC and Raiffeisen Zentralbank, says Oanda.

Broadbent is a graduate of the McKinsey & Company management programme, and he spent 10 years working for the consulting firm in a number of roles, before leaving in 1996 to become the director of European corporate development for credit card company Capital One.

Broadbent joined Oanda as its managing director for Europe in 2009.

In August, Oanda recorded a landmark one-billionth currency trade transaction through its online platform, amid growing speculation in the market that the company could one-day launch an IPO.
