From telecoms to financials to agriculture, more than 700 of Africa’s most established leaders gathered together this March for a three-day forum to build and reinforce regional ties, promote public-private sector partnership and discuss investment opportunities – all in the name of creating a supportive environment for economic and business development on the continent.
Unsurprisingly, all CEOs were quick to highlight Africa’s potential. Missing out in the continent would be missing a huge frontier-market opportunity, they said.
So with all the benefits and recognition that such a huge event could bring to Africa, why was the forum held in Geneva?
As one reflective CEO pointed out, it’s probably a lot easier for each delegate across the continent of Africa to travel to another continent than another African city.
No doubt about the potential investment opportunities in African infrastructure, then.
