Could this be Deutsche Bank's Michael Dobson trying to convince his fellow Vorstand members of his commitment to all things German?
Dobson, previously head of the investment bank formerly known as Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, and now chief executive of Morgan Grenfell Asset Management, has long had a passion for motor racing. He tries to attend as many of the European Grands Prix as he can.
And in March he managed to be on bank business in Australia at the same time as the formula one race - the first of the 1998 season - was being held.
Still combining business and pleasure is a sign of executive success. But even Michael Dobson doesn't go as far as the flag waving, supporter of Heinz-Harald Frentzen pictured at the start of the Spanish Grand Prix last May. Or he hasn't yet. Antony Currie
