There was a lot of hot air, a great deal of huffing and puffing and much jostling for position.
What else would you expect when you put several thousand bankers and associated professionals in one place? Especially when the place is London's Battersea Park on a balmy summer evening and the occasion is the annual Chase Corporate Challenge fun run.
This year the run took place over two days to accommodate the 18,000 runners. Many participants were running not for the glory of coming first but for worthy causes. Euromoney's finest, for example, raised over £600 for the Save the Children Kosovo appeal.
Two of our number also staggered off with a box of champagne each as the fastest male and female journalists. This is either a tribute to the speed and stamina required to write for this esteemed journal or a sad comment on the physical prowess of the profession as a whole, depending on how you look at it.
The event included the usual prizes for most imaginatively designed team T-shirts.
