As powerful and useful as the sites on offer from Lehman Brothers and State Street are, their appeal is narrower than that of the winner UBS, whose site caters to a wider audience.
As well as easy access to all the bank’s written research reports, UBS gives users access to interactive discounted cashflow models for every company that it covers, something that many other banks are reluctant to do.
UBS has also introduced a web-based version of its powerful stock-screening tool. This enables users to sift through over 3,000 companies, using a choice of over 170 criteria.
The UBS site is essentially what most other equity research sites are trying to become. CSFB Holt’s CD-based product offers a powerful stock-screening ability but is not yet integrated with the website’s written research. Goldman has a web-based stock-screening tool called Quantum, but it is available for European stocks only. Several sites offer company financials but not interactive models. UBS’s site does all these things for all the stocks it covers worldwide.
