California-based PalmSource has announced that CFO and treasurer Al Wood, who joined the technology company back in October 2002, has left to pursue other interests.
In the short term he will be replaced by vice president of finance Ira Cook, who will become principal finance officer. In the long term the company, which is behind such handheld devices as Palm OS, has begun to search for a permanent replacement for Wood.
Cook joined PalmSource in 2003, holding various senior financial positions at Borland Software Corporation from 1989 to 2003, including worldwide controller and vice president, tax and treasury. Prior to Borland, Cook spent 10 years in public accounting and is a certified public accountant.
PalmSource's Palm OS is a leading operating system powering mobile information devices. Approximately 36 million Palm-powered handhelds and smartphones have been sold to date worldwide.
