Vicunha is surveying opportunities to have operations in Colombia in order to benefit from the free trade agreement being negotiated with the US, and market rumors point the target would be the local textiles mill Fibratolima. Vital Lopes, financial manager Vicunha, commented the company wants to export textiles to US from a competitive position, and that would be through setting up operations in Latin American countries with free trade agreements with the US. The attractiveness of Colombia resides also in its domestic market with 43 mil inhabitants. Vicunha`s strategy is pursued by other textiles exporting companies as Coteminas and Santista Textil.
