It's always a tight call between Zagrebacka banka, Unicredit's Croatian subsidiary, and Privredna banka Zagreb, Intesa's subsidiary. The banks are usually neck and neck, particularly in bond deals. However, the award goes to Zagrebacka banka this year because it made more money, with net profit of about €130 million, compared with PBZ's €88 million.
Zagrebacka dominates key markets, such as the mortgage market, in which it has a 40% share; the mutual funds market, in which it also has a 40% share; and the online banking market, in which it has a 47% share.
