Gfk, Charter Communications and PalmSource announce CFO changes

Christian Weller von Ahlefeld has been appointed CFO of Gfk Group, the world's fifth largest market research firm. The German company is restructuring its management board after the loss of board member Heinrich Lizenroth in the Tsunami disaster. The 46-year-old von Ahlefeld will take on responsibility for converting the company's accounting process in line with IFRS. He has previously held CFO positions at Siemens and media company Tele Munchen Gruppe.

Derek Chang has resigned as interim co-CFO of Charter Communications, the US cable television operator controlled by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. Chang was appointed co-CFO in September, along with Paul Martin, after the previous CFO Michael Huseby left to join Charter's rival, Cablevision Systems. Chang will depart on April 15 to provide an orderly transition, the company said.

PalmSource, the California-based mobile phone technology company, has appointed Jeanne Seeley as its new CFO. Seeley, 53, was previously CFO of Snap Appliances where she led the company's IPO following its spin off from Quantum Corporation.

David Nagel, PalmSource's CEO, said: "Jeanne's thorough understanding of the critical strategic, tactical and compliance issues within all areas of business operations will help us scale our business as we expand beyond the handheld and smartphone markets into the feature phone market."
