We don't like to blow our own trumpet but... Euromoney trashed the competition and emerged as undefeated champions in the viciously fought mixed netball tournament hosted by Associated Newspapers, the sister company of Euromoney Institutional Investor within the DMGT publishing group.
The team of four men and four women, including Euromoney magazine's Sarah Minns, Thea Hatfield and Abigail Fells, crushed their rivals from the London Evening Standard newspaper, the previous winners and tournament favourites, in a tense and sometimes rough final that ended with a close score of 14 goals to 12.
Abigail was named the best female player in the tournament. The 24-year-old Australian earned herself a fearsome reputation. According to one player: "Most people were scared of her."
Although the Euromoney team won all its games in the tournament, it was not all plain sailing. In the first match, a violent tackle sent one member of the Euromoney team to hospital with a broken ankle.
Some female players blamed the presence of men on the teams for turning the normally civilized sport of netball into an extremely competitive and aggressive tournament.
