FX people moves: UniCredit/HVB makes another big hire

After the build-up of its sales and distribution teams under Kenan Altunis and Steve Turner, UniCredit now looks to have switched its attention to putting some muscle into its trading force. The bank’s latest big hire is the well-regarded Dan O’Sullivan, who has been lured from HSBC New York, where he was head of FX trading North America. O’Sullivan, who will start in January as head of global FX trading based in London, gets to work with his former boss at HSBC, Ben Welsh, who joined UniCredit as co-head of global FICC. The pair also worked at Goldman Sachs together.

Welsh is understandably pleased about the hire. “Dan has a great client following and a stellar trading record. His skill, professionalism, and energy make him a great addition to a strong business that is in the process of getting stronger,” he says.
