Best Bank: National Bank of Kuwait |
The extraordinary ability of the National Bank of Kuwait’s veteran chief executive, Ibrahim Dabdoub, continually to modernize the bank while maintaining excellent profits and minimizing risk sets the bank apart from the competition. Characteristic of this approach has been the successful completion of modernization of the bank in the past two years.
NBK has continued to build on both its branch and ATM networks – it has the largest in the country – while continuing to invest in electronic and remote channels. Its online banking and call centres are unmatched in Kuwait.
Just as significant has been the ability of the bank to refine its products. It has rolled out a series of specially tailored loans and competitive new investment products. In addition it launched loans for expatriates that do not require a guarantor, student loans and Visa direct money transfer. It also increased its dominance of the auto loan and credit card markets.
Global Investment House wins the award for best investment bank following an excellent all-round performance from its funds and investment banking and research departments, as well as delivering a 15% increase in net profit to KD71.4
