Latin America market round-up: Colombia: new finance minister

Colombia’s president, Alvaro Uribe, has appointed Oscar Ivan Zuluaga as his new finance minister following the resignation of Alberto Carrasquilla.

Zuluaga is one of Uribe’s closest advisers. He takes over at a time when Colombia’s economy is showing signs of overheating. Zuluaga is an economist with a degree from Javeriana University in Bogotá. Carrasquilla resigned in January for personal reasons.
