Equity round up: Barcap expands US equity origination

Barclays Capital is further expanding its equity origination business with the appointment of William Ortner from Citi to its New York office as managing director in equity product origination. Ortner is the latest of several new hires that Barcap has made this year to its equity origination business. He was most recently a managing director responsible for corporate equity derivatives at Citi.

Ortner’s primary responsibility will be to lead the bank’s origination activities for the Americas in equity-linked financing and corporate equity derivatives, says Barcap. Greg Holden also recently joined the team as an associate director from Credit Suisse, where he was most recently vice-president in the equity-linked origination group. Also, Dev Shrotri joined as a manager from legal firm Dun & Bradstreet, where he was an associate in the global solutions group. And Winston Ma joined as an associate director from JPMorgan, where he was most recently vice-president in capital structure advisory solutions and equity-linked capital markets.

Ortner will report to Craig Orchant, managing director and head of corporate finance and risk management for the Americas.
