PIMCO has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to launch its first exchange-traded fund by year’s end. The PIMCO 1-3 Year U.S. Treasury Index Fund will track the Merrill Lynch 1-3 Year U.S. Treasury Index. Don Suskind, product manager of ETFs, would not comment on the fund’s expenses because it is in filing, but said that pricing will be competitive with industry standards. He also said that PIMCO’s first full lineup of ETFs would be passively-, not actively-, managed. In July, PIMCO applied for exemptive relief to offer actively-managed ETFs, but it has yet to receive SEC approval. More stories from Fund Action
