Citi is poised to unveil Stuart Sopp as its head of G10 spot FX trading for Asia. Sopp, who will be based in Singapore, was previously working at Deutsche Bank in Sydney, where he traded spot Commonwealth dollars. Before that, he was at Bank of New York in London. He will report to Pritpal Gil, Citi’s head of FX trading for Asia.
“We are delighted to welcome Stuart to the team. His experience and trading ideas, along with strong client relationships will be a great asset to Citi’s FX franchise globally,” Pritpal Gil tells the Weekly FiX.
The move is a big step up the ladder for Sopp, given the size of Citi’s Asian FX franchise. The bank has 13 corporate sales and structuring offices in Asia and employs more than 200 salespeople to service FX clients in the region.
