My thanks to the reader who sent me a link to an article published in London’s free newspaper CityAM.
“Finally, we have been tipped off that there has been some bonus dissatisfaction over in the London FX unit of a major US bank currently going through a significant headcount adjustment. A salesperson, who is said to have generated some $6 million in revenues last year is believed to have been offered a $3,000 bonus for his efforts in 2007. He is said to have refused it, and is thought to be currently looking for another job. Another more senior FX salesperson, who claims to have brought in $20 million of revenues last year, is said to have been told he would get the princely sum of $90,000. He is said to have advised his boss that the bank could stick that bonus ‘where the sun don’t shine’.”
The last sentence alone gives this story at least a 9.5/10 credibility rating.
