Steve Braithwaite, who many in the market will know as Wham, has joined Saxo Bank as director, global head of foreign exchange and fixed income. “Steven is a highly qualified industry professional, who brings with him to the role many years’ experience in FX trading and sales in Tokyo, London and Singapore, and we are delighted that he joins us,” says Charles-Henri Sabet, Saxo’s global head of trading and senior executive director on the appointment.
Wham replaces Claus Nielsen, who has been promoted to the new role of chief operating officer for trading. Saxo says Nielsen’s promotion reflects a change in its structure and will help ensure co-ordination between all of the bank’s growing list of services. Wham, who will start on February 18, will be based in Copenhagen. Also starting at the bank soon are spot traders Steve Bellamy, who joins from JPMorgan, and Matt Strand, who was at Bank of America.
