The buzz is that Nomura’s decision to wade in with the wedge and hire ex-Lehman staff has scuppered several proposed people moves. Among those changing their minds about where they wanted to work is James Pearson.
Pearson had signed a contract to go to Standard Chartered and was supposed to take a team with him, but the call from Nomura was so great that he couldn’t refuse to go there instead. Similarly, I hear that Fabrizio Russo even made it on to the payroll at Barclays Capital. But again, the call from Nomura proved too tempting.
