Methodology
Euromoney’s Latin American company ranking is based on a survey of market analysts at banks and research institutes in Latin America. We received 126 replies (against 92 replies for 2008). Respondents were asked to nominate the top-three companies overall by service categories; overall by country; and overall by sector – bearing in mind market strength, profitability, growth potential, quality of management and earnings. Results may differ overall by category and by country as respondents could choose to fill out only the country category relevant to them. Points were awarded on a scale of 4:3:2 for first-, second- and third-place nominations respectively.
