It’s a sign of bad times when rappers stop rapping about drinking Cristal champagne and driving Lamborghinis to turn their creative juices on the economic downturn.
Michael Adams, a US hip hop artist also known as the Health Ranger, has penned a rap entitled "I want my bailout money". Adams says he wanted to spread the word that "US Treasury officials and Federal Reserve officials have conspired to steal trillions of dollars from everyday Americans by creating insane quantities of new money and handing it over to their rich, incompetent banker friends."
Among his more memorable lines, Adams raps: "I’m a new kind of thug with a Washington buzz ‘coz dealing debt pays better than dealing drugs." According to simplyhired.com, the average drug dealer earns $50,000 a year. Given that the average salary for an investment banker including bonus is $300,000, Adams might have a good point.
