When it was known as the Honda Racing F1 Team, it couldn’t even win a raffle. However, now that it has been relaunched as Brawn GP – with the same drivers, same backroom staff and management – the team is setting the pace in Formula One. Inevitably, this initial success has attracted a crowd of media-hungry players.
Media reports have suggested that a high-profile company was going to step in as the team’s main sponsor. But my old muckers at Mig Investments, the small Swiss-based FX trading company formed in 2003, have left everyone on the starting grid. Mig has just applied for its Swiss banking licence as it moves into the mainstream. In the meantime though, it has decided to boost its profile in the 120 countries it already operates in by having its branding on the front wing and nose of Brawn GP’s championship-leading BGP 001 car.
“We are extremely proud to be joining ranks with Formula One’s newest sensation, the Brawn GP team. This collaboration marks an important synergy between two young, innovative and ambitious teams, both leaders in our respective fields. We share parallel formulas for success and believe strongly in the power of innovation, teamwork and dedication,” says Hisham Mansour, Mig’s chief executive.
