Sometimes, such as after lunch yesterday with one of the market’s bigger cheeses, I wonder if it’s possible to game the algos that seem to be taking over FX. That said, if you want to survive in today’s market, you have to get smart.
The use of algos and complex event processing is not just the preserve of the big banks, as shown by the decision by CMC Markets to choose to use a CEP offering from StreamBase.
“StreamBase was selected because it met all our requirements for a high-performance CEP platform for FX,” says Asif Adatia, chief information officer at CMC Markets. “Our requirement for a mature CEP platform that can connect to multiple FX market data sources, handle tens of thousands of events per second and at the same time offer high availability was addressed by StreamBase. In addition we were looking for features that would support enterprise development and StreamBase’s visual debugging and unit testing features met those needs.”
I’m not sure what it all means, but it sounds very impressive. CMC is not known for wasting its time or money.
