  • In all the debate about the future of green bonds, the voice of investors has rarely been heard. But the results of a Euromoney survey show they have a clear message for issuers and the banks that lead manage their deals: they want better impact reporting, more corporate bonds, and they don’t want bonds to price through the curve. Give them that, and a sustainable, credible, sizeable and demand-driven market is there for the taking.

    Speak to people involved in philanthropy about impact investing and lots of contradictory phrases are trotted out. "It’s not new, but at the same time it’s very new," is one. "It’s a great opportunity, but there are lots of challenges," is another. For Mario Marconi, managing director and head of family services at UBS, the concept is simpler. "The idea of impact investing is to promote social and environmental good while at the same time applying an investment logic," he says.

    Pomegranate Capital is to be the first fund of hedge funds investing entirely in funds managed by women. CEO Susan Solovay reportedly has a list of 250 hedge funds run by women and has received backing from the Safra family and Fortress. Solovay points to research showing that female investors are more likely than their male counterparts to produce consistent long-term growth, yet find it harder to raise capital.
