  • Deutsche announced this week that its white-labelled dbFX retail platform has been rolled out in the Middle East. Deutsche says it is the first international investment bank to provide such a service. The platform now covers 70 countries.
  • Commerzbank Corporates and Markets has hired Nora Kronemann as an FX structurer based in London. Kronemann joined at the start of October and she reports to Enrico Ferrante, the bank’s head of FX structuring at the investment bank. Kronemann, like Ferrante, was previously at Bank of America, London.
  • Anja Osthoff recently started at joined Lava Trading in London as a director and senior account manager for FX. She previously worked at GFT in London as regional sales manager for institutions for FX and CFDs. Osthoff is an industry veteran, whose previous roles include stints at Dresdner Singapore, Bank of America London, Standard Chartered London , Commerzbank London, Citi London and Dresdner Panama.

  • ANZ has hired four new traders in London. Glenn Mackersy joins as senior trader spot; he was previously at HSBC Hong Kong. David Roughley joins in the same role from Bank of New York, as does Michael Wilkins, who has made the move from ODL Securities. All three report to David Wilkinson, the bank’s recently appointed head of currency and currency options trading, Europe and America. The final new boy is Paul O'Driscoll, who joins as senior trader currency options from Toronto-Dominion Bank. He reports to Duncan Holt, head of currency options trading, Europe.
  • UBS has apparently told its FX staff in Stamford, London and Zurich that they will find out at the end of October who is get culled following the $3.2 billion losses the firm suffered in its fixed-income business.
  • It’s good to see my old friend Leo Stefan is back in London. ODL Securities Limited has appointed him as senior manager, FX institutional trading and sales, at its London headquarters. Stefan is a market veteran with 25 years’ direct involvement in the global FX market. His previous appointments included being manager, FX dealing & investment banking, at Lateko/Norvik Bank and senior manager, FX, at Raiffeisen Zentral Bank in London.
  • After the build-up of its sales and distribution teams under Kenan Altunis and Steve Turner, UniCredit now looks to have switched its attention to putting some muscle into its trading force. The bank’s latest big hire is the well-regarded Dan O’Sullivan, who has been lured from HSBC New York, where he was head of FX trading North America. O’Sullivan, who will start in January as head of global FX trading based in London, gets to work with his former boss at HSBC, Ben Welsh, who joined UniCredit as co-head of global FICC. The pair also worked at Goldman Sachs together.
